Founded in 1924, the Midland Chamber of Commerce is a membership-based organization that exists to enhance the robust business climate of Midland, Texas, and surrounding areas.

In addition to serving the business needs of our members, the Chamber also manages the Barbara and George H.W. Bush Convention Center, VisitMidland, and the VisitMidland Info & Travel Center.

The VisitMidland team works with industry partners with a mission to encourage economic growth by developing, promoting, enhancing, and supporting Midland as a vibrant visitor destination.

VisitMidland targets several visitor markets including associations, government, SMERF (social, military, education, religious and fraternal) organizations, sports, entertainment, group tours, and leisure visitors. The team is also able to provide assistance to local residents when planning large group events (such as reunions, weddings, etc).

The department is funded through the City of Midland hotel occupancy tax.

As millions of vehicles pass through Midland via Interstate 20 every year, the VisitMidland Information and Travel Center is now the first impression travelers have of our community and region. The center is a valuable asset to the community as it educates and informs visitors about Midland.

The center's mission is to promote Midland through displays, educational areas, and tourist information. Visitors can learn where to stay, which attractions to visit, what local shops offer a variety of merchandise, and where to sample the variety of local cuisines.

Another feature offered by the center is information on and the histories of prominent families and individuals instrumental in the development of oil, ranching, and transportation locally and throughout the region.

Strategic Plan

Our Chamber's mission is to promote and foster business growth and success for our members and the Midland community. We work to achieve this mission through:

1) Being an Influential Chamber (four-star accredited by the US Chamber of Commerce), cultivating diversity within our membership base and leadership, and maintaining a professional staff

2) Providing Strategic Business Support to our Chamber members through an array of cash flow, networking, and promotional benefits

3) Advocating for a business-friendly climate at all levels of government

4) Promoting Midland as the place for work, tourism, and conventions

5) Encouraging Quality Growth and Development of our community in order to attract and retain the best workforce

In the spring of 2020, our Board approved an updated strategic plan to guide the organization until 2023.

The five components of this plan work in concert toward our mission to promote and foster business growth and success for Chamber members and the community.

American Chamber of Commerce Executives

American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) is a national association uniquely serving individuals involved in chamber management of chambers. ACCE's mission is to support and develop chamber professionals to lead businesses and their communities. The organizational vision is that ACCE is the organization of choice for chamber professionals.

Beginning in 1906 as the Texas Commercial Secretaries Association, the organization became the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives (TCCE) in 1978. TCCE's mission is “to enhance and promote the professional growth and competency of chamber of commerce professionals."

While our Chamber maintains close working relationships with local authorities, we are not a governmental body. We are a membership-based, non-profit organization.
